Shingles eyes are also acknowledged as herpes zoster ophthalmicus and it is a grave skin disease. Shingles in the eyes are called ophthalmic shingles. The other prominent symptoms apart from itching, swelling and continuous watering of the eyes are vision impairment followed by mild fever and fatigue.
Shingles in the eye may give rise to sever eye disorders such as optic neuritis, eyelid oedema, glaucoma, conjunctivitis, retinitis, post herpetic neuralgia and more.
Treatment of Shingles Eyes
The people suffering from shingles in the eye are highly recommended to take immediate medical assistance and undergo proper and effective treatment. It is a grave skin infection and can bring permanent blindness if not treated on urgent basis. The person suffering from this eye infection should follow the below treatment procedure.
First, the patient should take complete bed rest and consume such foods that are easily digested.
Second, application of 2. 1% gentian violet or sprinkle talcum powder to the affected area is very effective.
Third, the patients are suggested to take sedatives and analgesics to eliminate severe pain. Topical creams such as a combination of acyclovir and antibiotic are very effective for rashes. Use Topical eye drops, a helpful medicine to treat shingles eyes.
